A high-level police investigation is underway in Bihar following the suspicious death of a young married woman, whose grieving family has accused her husband and in-laws of severe dowry harassment and coercive pressure to undergo religious conversion.

Local authorities recovered the body after receiving reports from residents and immediately dispatched it to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination. Forensic teams were deployed to inspect the premises and gather physical evidence.

Serious Allegations by Family

According to the formal complaint lodged by the victim's parents, the woman had been subjected to continuous physical and mental abuse since her marriage. The family claimed that demands for additional cash and consumer goods were routinely made by her in-laws.

Furthermore, the victim's family alleged that she was being coerced into changing her religious faith against her will. Relatives stated that when she resisted these persistent demands, the abuse escalated severely.

"She repeatedly informed us about the mental torture and physical violence she endured at the hands of her husband and his family. They pressured her incessantly regarding dowry and insisted she abandon her faith," a close relative told investigators.

Senior district police officials confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) concerning dowry death, domestic cruelty, and criminal intimidation, alongside applicable statutes governing forced religious conversions.
